4. Finding Safety Again
The challenge
A client came to treatment feeling as though her nervous system was permanently on high alert. Everyday events triggered intense anxiety, she startled easily and described feeling as though she was constantly braced for something bad to happen.
What we discovered
Rather than rushing into treatment, we slowed everything down. Every stage of the session, from how I approached her to the pace, pressure and quality of touch, was guided by what her nervous system was ready to receive.
Giving her body time to process and make choices allowed trust and relaxation to develop naturally.
The outcome
By the end of the session, she described experiencing a depth of calm she hadn't felt for a long time. She said she felt genuinely listened to, respected and cared for, and that her body seemed to remember how to rest again.
For her, healing began not with doing more, but with discovering what safety actually felt like.
Whether the challenge is showing up in your body, your work or your personal life, help is at hand.
