Your privacy matters

Your privacy is especially important to me. I ensure that your personal information is kept strictly safe and secure, adhering to current data protection legislation from our initial contact through to after our work together has ended.

How We Handle Your Information

Initial contact

When you contact me to book a session, I will request and record your name, telephone number and email address. Should you decide not to proceed with the session, I will ensure that your personal data is deleted within one calendar month. If you would like to delete this information sooner, please let me know.

While we are working together

When you begin working with me, I will collect, record, and store your personal information which includes your name, address, contact details and your GP practice. I will also record assessment information, and this will be stored separately under in a password-protected file.

I will make brief factual notes following each session and these will be stored securely digitally with password protection.

I abide by the FHT Ethical Standards and the ICF Code of Ethics. Everything that you discuss with me is confidential and this confidentiality will only be breached in the following circumstances:

Where there is an ethical duty for me to do so, for example when there is a significant risk of serious harm to you or others.
Where there is a legal requirement for me to do so, for example a court order.

I will always try to speak to you about this first unless it is considered that this may cause you or others serious harm.

While you are attending regular sessions with me, your name and contact details will be held digitally on a computer and mobile phone for the purposes of emails and texts to facilitate the management of appointments. Both devices are password protected. I will remove your phone number from my telephone contacts within one month once we have agreed that our initial period of work together has ended.

After therapy has ended

With your permission, I will keep your name and contact details securely in a password-protected database on my laptop.

I may occasionally, and with your permission, send you occasional emails informing you of any changes to my practice arrangements, or publicising events that may be of interest. You can unsubscribe from the mailing list at any time.

Once our engagement has ended, and if you do not return for any further sessions, your personal information will be kept for 7 years and then securely destroyed. If you want me to delete your information any sooner, please let me know.

Your Rights

You have the right to ask me to rectify or delete your personal information at any time. I will address this as soon as possible upon request.

You have the right to request a copy of your personal information. Please put your request in writing to [email protected]

If you have any concerns about how I manage personal information, please do not hesitate to discuss this with me.
